Jessica Klein
Owner/CEO/Buyer/Merchandiser/Dessert Lover
Jessica has years of retail experience under her belt, having founded the vibrant, modern boutique Mod Pod in Corvallis, Oregon, back in 2009. With life's twists and turns, she relocated the store to Redmond, rebranding it as Desert Prairie—a reflection of the area's relaxed vibe. As she's matured, Jessica recognizes the importance of travel-friendly, effortlessly stylish brands. Known for her knack in selecting clothing that perfectly suits her customers, she cherishes the connections made with each one. Always brimming with creativity, Jessica is the driving force behind the boutique's constant stream of promotions, freebies, and events. When not busy at work, she finds joy in the company of her two black cats, while her husband ensures she's well-fed and grounded with leisurely walks.
Crystal Norkaitis
I’m so grateful to have had a career in retail management for women’s fashions for the last 40 years. It had been so rewarding to work with people who have the same objective, to help other women look and feel beautiful. My favorite quote is, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”, by Maya Angelou. Working at Desert Prairie for nearly a year now has allowed me to practice this message and I love it! My other interests include yoga, antiquing, travel, and hiking.
Betsy Kozykoski
My passion for color and fashion stems from being raised in a vibrant home filled with beautiful textiles by a style-conscious mom. Both my parents, active community members, always emphasized the importance of appearance, saying, "You never know who you might run into at the grocery store!" This taught me the value of first impressions. Learning to sew at a young age, I made many of my clothes throughout high school and college, often staying up late sketching gowns with dreams of becoming a fashion designer. Our home was always stocked with the latest Vogue or fashion magazine, and my mom, a pioneering color consultant in the '70s, conducted color consultations in our dining room. Fascinated by the process, I have continued studying color, including its psychology, throughout my life. My passion for fashion and color, combined with an interest in people, led me to study Fashion Merchandising and Psychology in college.
My first job out of high school was at Bullock's in Pasadena, where my passion for retail began. Encouraged to experiment with different looks, I discovered my evolving style and helped others find theirs. With an AA Degree in Fashion Merchandising, I've experienced various facets of ladies' fashion, including sales, modeling, displays, styling, and personal shopping for stores like Nordstrom, Macy's, Dillard's, and Talbots. Now at Desert Prairie, I am privileged to work with Jessica and my teammates, who constantly seek creative ways to help customers look their best. It was exciting to be invited on my first buying trip last fall, where I helped select special accessories for the store. I love assisting our ladies in finding the perfect outfits for any occasion and feel blessed to do what I was born to do. Outside of work, I enjoy playing piano, singing, sports, and spending time with my grandbabies, painting, collecting shells, and various hobbies with my husband.
Kylie Haywood
As a little girl I loved playing dress up. Women’s fashion and shopping has always been fun for me. This is my first year working in retail. I’m so grateful for the opportunity and to help customers find something that makes them feel beautiful and confident. After my senior year of high school I plan on attending community college and getting a business degree. Some of my interests include hanging out with friends, swimming and traveling.
